So, over the weekend we recorded our song for the upcoming J Church tribute album. It\’s a benefit for Lance Hahn, the singer of J Church, who needs a kidney transplant. We got to cover my favorite J Church song \”Church on Fire\” from my favorite (and first) J Church album, Arbor Vitae. Turned out pretty cool.
Recording a cover is so much easier than recording an original. I guess it\’s because you already pretty much know what it should sound like. Or maybe it\’s because, unlike recording an original, there\’s never a point in the session when recording your vocals that you slam your headphones on the ground, screaming out to the empty room with teary eyes that the song sucks and that the person who wrote it has no business writing anything ever again. Something like that…
Anyway, not sure when the comp will be out, but probably around two months or so. It\’s a true honor to help out one of my longtime heroes in this way. Go catch up on Lance\’s condition and drop him a line. He\’s going through so much right now.
Oh and it seems like there\’s something else. Hmm, let me see… oh, yeah. I got married the other day! It still looks bizarre when I see the word Riggle after the word Kim on email signatures, but we\’re getting used to it. We had a really fun wedding and plan on doing it again in the future (you know, if things don\’t work out or whatever). Here\’s to falling in love, waiting a decade, and then getting married!
