Good news: the black cloud that follows me around is alive and well today!
We\’re recording the last of the new songs I told you about, but the computer doesn\’t seem to like the direction our band is going in, because it\’s been a-glitchin\’ and a-moanin\’ all damn day. Deedle had already saved the day once by loaning us mics, cables and preamps; and then later, he saved the day again by replacing yet another vital piece of gear that had gone bad on me. I didn\’t even know it was possible to save the same day twice. Well, I guess it makes sense: he saved it, I screwed it up, he saved it again.
But we did finish drums on two songs today, so I thought our troubles were behind us. But then, silly me, I decided to, ya know, PLAY BACK what we\’d done. That\’s when my computer decided to stop talking to my ProTools hardware and start giving me the blue-screen-of-death everytime I open a project.
I\’m telling you: the cloud is alive and well, and apparently, it has friends. But the good thing is: I have friends, too.
We\’ll get there. More later. Bed time.
UPDATE: Turns out I have one more friend who\’s been with me all along, always there, always willing to help, but never called upon until now: my good ol\’ system recovery disc.
So, we\’re back on schedule for finishing drums today. I know you were probably worried sick about this. Or maybe just reading this blog makes you feel sick in general. (Actually, both are true for me.)
Anyhoo…
