I didn\’t think it was possible to spend several consecutive hours in a former strip club on the outskirts of Waco and not feel weird, dirty, and a little freaked-out for days and days afterwards. Somehow I was wrong.
The aforesaid place (which recently and thankfully received a good cleaning and remodeling) is where we played last Saturday with Darlington, The Dropouts, The New Stand, The Tastydactlys and Garage 34 (Here\’s a review). Thanks Andrew, Justin, Kim, Wes, Angie and everyone who came out and refrained from asking us the obvious due to the circumstance: \”How much for a lap dance?\” And thanks, Sydni, for the big, red button. I\’ll sew it on something worthy soon, and with pride.
Back to business: the 3 songs I spoke of and posted lyrics to the other day are very, very close to being done. I believe Deedle is doing the final mixing/mastering tweaks on Wednesday or Thursday, so we hope to have them up on the site next week. These three songs (and possibly a 4th, acoustic one called \”Where Are We\”) will also be released as a short-run CD EP. We\’re also figuring out the logistics of including the live recording of Deedle\’s last show with us from December. It\’s pretty rough (just two mics in the back of the room) but seems to have at least a little bit of character. Anyway, I think that\’ll be on it, too. The \”EP\”, by the way, will be titled Resigned.
I\’ve also been made aware that the completed, full version of 41gb.com will be coming to a screen near me very soon. I\’m not holding my breath, nor am I advising you to, but I feel pretty good about the prospect of it happening within the next few weeks. Until then, happy breathing.
Now, here\’s the other thing: April 9th and 10th we are recording 8 songs for what will be a section of our new full-length. The plan is to do a few separate studio stints over the Spring/Summer (instead of doing all the songs in one sitting like usual). We\’ll see how this method works out, but it\’s been pretty exciting working on everything so far, so hopefully a drop or two of that excitement will somehow make its way onto the tape (or into the computer, rather) causing it to come out sounding somewhat okay. Anyhow, if all goes well, or at least well enough, the album turnaround should be pretty quick, like maybe late Summer. Until then, happy breathing.
